Events Suite

The Alberta School of Business has a custom events application where any user with a valid CCID can post events to the many Alberta School of Business calendars. These events are posted on the School’s web site, the Universities events tool ( http://events.ualberta.ca ), and inside of Blackboard.

Anyone may login to the system with their Campus Computing ID (CCID) to post events, or if you manage a calendar, approve events that have been posted. An event must be approved for a specific calendar before it will appear on that event calendar.

  2. Log in with your CCID user name and password.

Adding Events

All university users may log in and create events for the School of Business. However, only selected users will have access to approve events for specific calendars. An event must be approved for a specific calendar before it appears on that calendar and the School’s main event calendar.

To Create an event simply:

  1. Log in to the events tool
  2. Fill in all of the required fields on the create event page
  3. Select the calendars that this event should be shown on
  4. Click “Create Event”

Note: Your event will be held for approval by the approvers of each calendar that you have selected.

Note: In the old system you could specify a registration link, contact info, link to a website, and information about the speakers. In this tool all of that information goes into the description field so that we can cross post events to the University’s Events page.

Managing Events

Approving Events

If you are an approver for a calendar, you will have options to Approve/Decline Events and Manage Calendars when you log in. To get to that area first select the menu bar of the application and select the appropriate page. If you typically create events for a specific department/program/center, you can request access to be an approver for that calendar by placing a Helpdesk incident here . That way, when you create an event it will automatically be approved for your calendar and you will have the option to approve events that others have entered for your calendar.

Editing an Event

Events can only be edited by an approver for that calendar, after the event has been approved. If you are an approver of a calendar you can edit events that are posted on your calendar(s).

Once an event has been approved, you can edit it by clicking “Edit” on the event in the Approved Events List menu.

A list of approvers for all calendars can be found here: https://apps.business.ualberta.ca/events/ViewApprovers

Deleting an Event

Events can only be deleted by an approver for that calendar. If you are an approver you can delete the events that are posted on your calendar(s)

Deleting an event can be triggered by clicking Delete on the event in the Approved Events List menu.

A list of approvers for all calendars can be found here: https://apps.business.ualberta.ca/events/ViewApprovers

You can get an embeddable calendar by visiting your event management page. At the bottom you will find a pre-formatted iframe code which you can use to embed the calendar into an external page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I keep getting emails from the Events Tool?

If you are receiving emails from the system it is because you are all listed as an approver for at least one, potentially more calendars in the system. Every time someone adds an event to a calendar which you are an approver for you will get an email asking you to approve the event.
